Samba & LDAP

Our aim is setting up a SAMBA server under Linux and making it as a PDC for windows machine.

Following system requirements / functional requirement should be meet:

• Primary domain controller for pre 2K domain
• ADS domain controller is not supported
• Domain user DB is stored in the LDAP
• User entries are shared with UNIX
• Password of the user for windows & Linux are synchronized
• Domain group is supported
• Master browser for the DOMAIN
• File sharing supporting NT ACL as most possible

Finally, as a supplementary, some posts about daily operation

• User management (add/delete/modify)
• Group management (add/delete/modify/mapping)
• Other SAMBA workstation joining the DOMAIN
• Windows machine joining the DOMAIN

Software configuration:

• OS: Slackware 13.37
• Samba 3.5.10, as standard package in Slackware 13.37
